History of Breeze Speech and Language Therapy
Breeze Speech and Language Therapy was founded with a vision to provide exceptional, accessible care to the Southcoast Massachusetts community. The practice is led by Brianna Abbas, a dedicated and highly qualified speech-language pathologist with a deep commitment
to social justice and neuro-affirming practices.
Brianna Abbas: Founder and Lead Therapist
Brianna Abbas obtained her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions. During her time there, she distinguished herself not only through her academic excellence but also through her passionate advocacy for social justice. Brianna was honored with the "Be the Change" award for her outstanding work in the Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) department. This award recognized her efforts to promote social justice and equity within the field of health professions.
Breeze Speech and Language Therapy
Phonology Therapy
Phonology therapy addresses patterns of sound errors. These errors, such as substituting one
sound for another, can affect speech intelligibility. Our approach identifies and corrects these patterns, enhancing overall speech comprehensibility through tailored exercises and strategies.
Language Therapy
Language therapy assists individuals with difficulties in understanding and using language. Whether it's improving vocabulary, grammar, or sentence structure, our therapy supports both receptive (understanding) and expressive (speaking and writing) language skills, fostering effective communication.
Voice Therapy (Pediatric and Adult)
Voice therapy addresses issues with voice quality, pitch, volume, and other aspects of vocal health. Whether caused by vocal misuse, medical conditions, or other factors, our therapy helps individuals achieve a healthy and effective voice through specialized techniques and exercises.
Commitment to Anti-Oppressive and Neuro-Affirming Practice
Brianna’s dedication to anti-oppressive practice and whole-person care is at the core of Breeze Speech and Language Therapy. She believes in creating an inclusive and equitable environment where all clients feel respected and valued. Her approach is rooted in the principles of social justice, ensuring that therapy is accessible to individuals from all
backgrounds.
In addition to her commitment to anti-oppressive practice, Brianna is a strong advocate for neuro-affirming therapy. She recognizes and respects the unique neurological make-up of each individual, particularly those with neurodiverse conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Her approach focuses on affirming the client’s identity and working with their natural strengths and preferences. This practice ensures that therapy is not just about addressing areas for improvement but also about celebrating and harnessing the individual’s unique abilities.
